Hi, I’m Angela (she/they)

I'm Angela, an LMHC. I don't work with every couple — I work with couples in high conflict, couples navigating infidelity, and couples who can't point to one reason they've drifted apart because it's actually twenty reasons, stacked up over years, that have hardened into disdain. That's a different repair job than "we stopped talking." Thirteen years in, I know how to find the thread under all that weight and help you both start pulling on it together — or help you figure out, clearly and without more damage, whether staying is the right call at all.

I'm trained in IFIO and PACT, I'm a Certified IFS therapist and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and I bring an attachment lens and Discernment Counseling into the room when a couple isn't even sure they want to be in the room. I don't just talk about your patterns — I work with what's happening in your body and your nervous system in real time, because most couples already know the story of their fight. What they don't have is a way out of the loop.

I was born and raised in NYC, the child of Chinese refugees from Vietnam. I have three kids and I'm slightly obsessed with dragging all of them on group camping trips and road trips to national parks — chaos included.

I welcome and support all couples, including QTBIPOC and kink/poly couples, and I work to make sure all individuals feel safe, respected, and understood.

Supporting Neuro-Different Relationships

I also work with neurodiverse couples — where one or both partners are ADHD, autistic, or otherwise wired differently, and a lot of what looks like "not trying" or "not caring" is actually a mismatch in how you each process, communicate, and regulate. I help couples tell the difference between a character flaw and a nervous system difference, and build a relationship that works with both of your brains instead of against them.

Core Values and Guiding Principles

01
Honesty over comfort. I'll tell you what I see, even when it's not what you want to hear. Couples in high conflict have usually had enough people tell them what they want to hear.

04
You decide the ending. My job isn't to save your relationship. It's to help you get clear enough to choose — together or apart — without regret about how you got there.

02
No villains. Even in infidelity work, I don't work from a good-partner/bad-partner story. Something broke down before the affair did — that's where the real work is.

05
Both of you are the client. I don't take sides, and I don't referee. My job is the relationship in the room, not proving who's right.

03
Pattern over incident. The blowup that brought you in usually isn't the problem. It's the hundredth rerun of a pattern that started years earlier.

06
Power isn't neutral. Whose voice takes up more room, whose needs get centered by default, who has more to lose by speaking up — I pay attention to that, not just to who's "communicating better" in the moment.

Credentials

My role isn't neutral

My role in discernment work isn't neutral. I stay neutral on the outcome — whether you stay together or separate isn't my call, and I won't push you toward either. But I'm not neutral on the conflict itself. In my experience, there's almost always a treatable path through what's breaking you apart, even when it doesn't feel that way from inside the disdain. Part of my job is to actually put that possibility in front of you — clearly, and without sugarcoating how hard the work would be — so that whatever you decide, you're deciding with the full picture instead of from exhaustion.

You don't need another round of "communicate better." You need to know what's actually underneath the fight, and whether it's worth fighting for. That's the work I do. Let's find out together.
